FC Augsburg moves veterans to U23 and loans Elias Saad to MLS

Bentley Baxter Bahn, a 33‑year‑old midfielder with 324 appearances in Germany’s third tier, left Alemannia Aachen at the end of his contract and signed for FC Augsburg II, the club’s U23 side in the Regionalliga Bayern. He will join the team under coach Markus Feulner to help develop younger players. At the same time, 28‑year‑old defender Till Schumacher, formerly of 1. FC Saarbrücken and with experience in Austria and the Czech Republic, signed a two‑year deal with the same U23 squad.

Separately, FC Augsburg announced that forward Elias Saad, 26, will spend the 2024‑25 season on loan at Nashville SC in the United States’ Major League Soccer. Saad, who joined Augsburg for €2 million from FC St. Pauli in 2023, struggled for minutes and was previously loaned to Hannover 96. Augsburg sport director Benni Weber said the move aims to give Saad regular playing time, while Nashville’s GM Mike Jacobs praised his offensive abilities and expects him to contribute to the club’s league‑leading Eastern Conference campaign.
