FC Barcelona approves €510 million for Camp Nou redevelopment
FC Barcelona has approved €510 million in new financing to support the ongoing redevelopment of the Spotify Camp Nou as part of the Espai Barça project. This brings the total committed financing for the project to over €1.9 billion.
Of the new funds, €300 million is designated for construction costs, which have risen due to an expanded project scope including additional VIP spaces, an expanded museum, and structural reinforcements. The remaining €210 million will be raised through two Media Notes of €105 million each, backed by future audiovisual revenues from LaLiga and UEFA competitions. These notes carry fixed interest rates with maturities of up to 10 years.
The club faces significant financial pressure, with total debt potentially exceeding €2.6 billion depending on repayment schedules. Delays in the stadium's completion have impacted club revenues, and the club has already incurred substantial interest payments. The goal is to return to a fully functional Camp Nou, which is expected to reach a capacity of 105,000 seats by the 2028-2029 season.
