FC Barcelona approves new stadium financing and player departures
FC Barcelona is navigating significant financial and squad restructuring. The club's members have approved an expansion of the Espai Barça credit by 300 million euros and the issuance of an additional 210 million euros in bonds. These funds are essential to complete the Camp Nou remodeling, which has faced delays and cost increases.
Negotiations with Goldman Sachs resulted in a change to the credit return model. Under the new terms, the financial institution will collect the first portion of revenue from stadium exploitation for the next two years, rather than the club retaining the first 100 million euros as previously planned. Vice president Ferran Olivé stated these measures are being taken “without the member paying a single cent.”
On the sporting side, Frenkie de Jong is reportedly set to leave the club in January. The decision follows irregular performances, physical issues, and disagreements regarding injury management. Club leadership, including Joan Laporta and Deco, aim to facilitate his departure to manage the wage bill and reduce competition for players like Marc Bernal.
