FC Barcelona Camp Nou renovation costs exceed 2 billion euros

FC Barcelona faces significant financial and logistical challenges due to the ongoing renovation of the Camp Nou stadium. The club has approved a new injection of 510 million euros to address construction delays and technical modifications, pushing the total cost of the project toward 2 billion euros. Some estimates suggest total obligations could reach 2.68 billion euros.

As a result of the construction schedule, the club will be forced to temporarily relocate its home matches again. Following the conclusion of the 2026/27 season in May 2027, the team is expected to move to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Montjuïc for approximately six months. A return to the Camp Nou is projected for January 2028, with an initial capacity of roughly 95,000 spectators before reaching a final goal of 105,000.

The financial strain is compounded by the need to refinance debt and manage the impact on the club's ability to comply with LaLiga's salary cap. The Espai Barça project's budget has also seen substantial increases from its original 2014 estimates.
