FC Barcelona defender Xavi Espart sidelined for seven weeks
FC Barcelona has confirmed that 19-year-old defender Xavi Espart will be unavailable for approximately seven weeks due to an ankle injury. The injury occurred during the club's recent El Clásico match against Real Madrid, following a collision with midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni.
Medical examinations revealed a syndesmosis injury in Espart's right ankle. The versatile player, who has been a rising sensation for coach Hansi Flick, has featured prominently this season at both left and right fullback positions. His absence is expected to keep him out of action until at least mid-December or early January.
This setback exacerbates a growing defensive crisis for the Catalan club. Barcelona is currently managing multiple injuries in their backline, including Jules Koundé, Andreas Christensen, Eric García, and others, leaving the squad with limited options for the upcoming fixtures.
