FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta was hospitalized at the Hospital de Barcelona after developing a cardiac arrhythmia. Doctors, led by cardiologist Dr. Jordi Morillas, performed a minor procedure that reversed the arrhythmia and restored a normal heart rhythm. Laporta announced on Instagram that “everything went well, they reversed my arrhythmia, my heart is beating rhythmically again,” and thanked the hospital staff, the club’s medical director Dr. Xavier Corbella, his chief of staff Manana Giorgadze, Dr. Valentí Fuster and his Mount Sinai team, and Dr. Brugada for recommending the treatment. Because of the episode, he will not travel to England for Barcelona’s pre‑season stage at St George’s Park in Birmingham, where vice‑president Rafa Yuste will represent the club. Laporta said he feels well and is recovering at home.
