Sergi Roberto set to join LA Galaxy in MLS

Spanish midfielder Sergi Roberto, 34, is on the verge of signing with Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy. After terminating his contract with Italian club Como, negotiations between the player and the MLS franchise have progressed to the final stage, with a formal agreement expected shortly. The move will reunite Roberto with former Barcelona teammate Riqui Puig, who also plays for the Galaxy, and will see him face former Barcelona rivals such as Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Antoine Griezmann, who are currently in the league. Roberto’s versatile experience – capable of playing midfield, full‑back or interior roles – was highlighted as a key factor for the Galaxy’s recruitment.

The transfer marks Roberto’s first professional stint outside Europe after a 14‑year career at FC Barcelona, during which he made 373 appearances and won 25 titles. His departure from Como follows two seasons in Italy, where he featured in 37 matches. The pending contract will add another high‑profile name to the growing list of European stars moving to the United States.
