FC Barcelona registers Egyptian striker Hamza Abdelkarim
FC Barcelona has decided to register young Egyptian striker Hamza Abdelkarim within the first-team squad for the upcoming season. The decision follows the player's strong performance during the pre-season, where he scored four goals in five friendly matches, including a notable appearance in the Joan Gamper Trophy.
Abdelkarim, who joined Barcelona from Egypt's Al Ahly SC with a contract lasting until 2029, is expected to wear the number 29 jersey. While his registration with La Liga confirms his availability for domestic competition under coach Hansi Flick, his status regarding UEFA Champions League eligibility remains uncertain.
Under Spanish league regulations, the number 29 suggests he may currently be part of a reserve or secondary list rather than the primary squad, which typically utilizes numbers 1 through 25. His inclusion in European competitions will depend on how the club manages its official rosters following the summer transfer window.
