FC Barcelona registers Hamza Abdelkarim amid PSG interest

FC Barcelona has officially registered Egyptian forward Hamza Abdelkarim with the reserve team, Barcelona Atlètic, for the 2026/2027 season. Due to his age, he is also included in the first-team squad. To comply with UEFA Champions League registration requirements, Abdelkarim and Belgian player Jessey Bessio were included in the club’s ‘List A’, as they did not meet the criteria for the ‘List B’ academy registration.

Amid this registration, Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly expressed interest in the 18-year-old striker. According to reports, PSG may attempt to trigger Abdelkarim’s current release clause, which is valued at 15 million euros. The player has drawn praise from PSG manager Luis Enrique following his performances in summer friendlies.

In response to this interest, Barcelona leadership, including President Joan Laporta and Sporting Director Deco, have entered negotiations with the player’s agent to renew his contract. The club aims to increase his release clause tenfold to 150 million euros to protect his value. Abdelkarim has already seen limited action under manager Hansi Flick, appearing as a substitute in a La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano.
