FC Barcelona negotiates transfer for German teen Mikael Baza

FC Barcelona is actively negotiating the transfer of 16-year-old German defender Mikael Baza from Hamburger SV. Baza, a left-footed centre-back currently playing for HSV’s Under-19 squad, is considered a highly promising prospect. The club aims to integrate him into their youth structures, specifically the Under-19 and Barça Atletic teams, to prepare him for the first team in the future.

Negotiations are reportedly underway as Baza has only one year remaining on his current contract with Hamburger SV. The young defender is the cousin of Bayern Munich player Jonathan Tah and is said to be open to the move to Spain. This pursuit aligns with Barcelona’s current strategy, led by sporting director Deco, to prioritize the scouting and development of elite young talent.

In related squad news, Barcelona has officially registered 18-year-old Egyptian forward Hamza Abdelkarim with the first team. Abdelkarim, who joined from Al Ahly, earned his place following a strong pre-season performance where he scored four goals. He has been assigned shirt number 29 and was included in the matchday squad for the club’s La Liga opener.
