FC Barcelona seeks FIFA extension for female coaching requirement
FC Barcelona is reportedly seeking an extension from FIFA to comply with new regulations requiring women to be present in technical coaching staffs. The mandate, which took effect in September, stipulates that teams participating in FIFA-organized competitions must include at least one female coach or assistant with a UEFA A license.
Currently, the coaching staff led by Pere Romeu consists entirely of men. The club has stated it has struggled to find a profile that meets its specific requirements. This issue is particularly pressing for the club as it prepares to compete in the FIFA Women's Club World Cup in Miami this coming January.
Ana Junyent, a former manager of Badalona Women with a UEFA Pro license, revealed she had previously contacted the club to offer her services following the announcement of the new rule, but was told the position was already filled.
