FC Barcelona sells Can Rigalt land for 30 million euros
FC Barcelona has sold its Can Rigalt land in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat to the developer Metropolitan House BCN Residencial for 30 million euros. The transaction, formalized on July 8, 2026, follows nearly 30 years of legal and urban planning complications.
The club has already received 10 million euros of the total amount. The buyer intends to launch a residential project on the site involving an investment exceeding 50 million euros to construct 378 homes.
The sale marks the end of a long-standing real estate saga for the club. Barcelona originally acquired the land in 1997 to build a sports city, but the project never materialized. Previous attempts to sell development rights in 2005 led to legal disputes and an arbitration award in 2016 that required the club to repurchase the land and return previous payments.
