FC Barcelona signs Egyptian striker Hamza Abdelkarim to 2029 contract

FC Barcelona exercised its purchase option on 18‑year‑old Egyptian forward Hamza Abdelkarim, paying a reported €1.5 million to Al Ahly and signing him to a three‑year deal that runs until June 2029. The youngster, who joined Barcelona on loan during the winter window, scored six goals in 11 appearances for the club’s youth sides and impressed during his stint with the reserve team, Barça Atlètic.

Abdelkarim, already capped by Egypt, featured in the 2026 World Cup, appearing against Belgium and New Zealand. While he is expected to continue developing with the reserve side, the club indicated he could be given a chance in the first‑team pre‑season under coach Hansi Flick. The signing is viewed as a long‑term investment in a player dubbed the “Egyptian Haaland.”
