FC Barcelona signs Portuguese talent Dany Freire

FC Barcelona has signed 16-year-old Portuguese offensive midfielder Dany Freire to its academy. The player successfully completed trials in Catalonia, leading the club to finalize a contract on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Freire, who was born in Lisbon, previously developed his skills with Luxembourgish clubs CS Fola Esch and Racing FC Union Luxembourg, where he participated in the UEFA Youth League. Due to his time in Luxembourg, he holds citizenship in that country and has represented both Luxembourg and Portugal at the U-15 international level.

He is expected to join the club's youth ranks at La Masia as part of Barcelona's strategy to recruit top European talent before they reach senior professional status.
