FC Barcelona targets Ajax defender Youri Baas

FC Barcelona is reportedly interested in signing Ajax defender Youri Baas to strengthen their defense during the upcoming January transfer window. According to reports from the Spanish newspaper Sport, the 23-year-old is viewed as a high-quality candidate due to his technical ability, speed, and versatility as both a central defender and a left-back.

The club is seeking defensive reinforcements following an injury to Andreas Christensen. While Barcelona is also considering other players such as Vitor Reis, Arthur Dias, and Ruud Nijstad, Baas is noted for having a profile that aligns well with the club's requirements. If a younger talent cannot be secured, the club may pivot toward more experienced options like Lisandro Martinez.

However, Barcelona's transfer activity remains constrained by financial limitations and salary cap restrictions. The club may need to sell players before they can finalize new signings. Baas, whose contract with Ajax runs until mid-2028, has reportedly already received interest from clubs in the Premier League and Bundesliga.
