FC Barcelona targets RB Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba

FC Barcelona is exploring the transfer of French defender Castello Lukeba to reinforce their defensive line during the January window. Manager Hansi Flick has identified the 23-year-old as a priority target due to his left-footedness, speed, and ability to initiate play from the back, which aligns with the team's tactical requirements.

Negotiations face hurdles as Lukeba is under contract with RB Leipzig until June 2029. Reports suggest Leipzig may require a fee exceeding 30 million euros to begin discussions, with the total transfer potentially reaching between 30 and 40 million euros.

Barcelona's ability to secure the deal may depend on their financial situation and player departures. The club holds a 20 percent sell-on clause for Ez Abde, who currently plays for Real Betis. A potential move for Abde to Paris Saint-Germain could provide the necessary funds to facilitate the Lukeba acquisition.
