FC Barcelona targets Serhou Guirassy after Atletico Madrid rejects Julian Alvarez sale

FC Barcelona has intensified its search for a high-quality central striker following the failure to secure Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid. The club has reportedly made an inquiry to Borussia Dortmund regarding the status of Serhou Guirassy, a highly productive Guinean international who recorded 22 goals and 6 assists last season in the Bundesliga.

While Guirassy's estimated transfer fee of just over 50 million euros is considered attainable, his 10 million euro annual salary may pose a challenge due to La Liga's strict financial fair play regulations. A potential deal could be facilitated if Borussia Dortmund moves to acquire Barcelona's young defender Hector Fort for approximately 10 million euros.

Separately, Atletico Madrid has maintained a firm stance against selling Julian Alvarez to Barcelona. Club executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin stated that the club would not accept any offer, citing his 500 million euro release clause. Despite recent tension between the player and the fans at the Metropolitano, Atletico intends to keep the striker to maintain squad unity and competitiveness.
