FC Barcelona approves €510 million for stadium renovation

During FC Barcelona’s General Assembly, President Joan Laporta announced major financial and structural updates. The club’s members approved a €510 million financing package, consisting of a €300 million credit extension for the Espai Barça project and €210 million in liquidity bonds backed by audiovisual rights. This funding aims to accelerate the renovation of the Spotify Camp Nou, which has faced delays and rising material costs due to global geopolitical conflicts.

The club reported record revenues exceeding €1 billion for the 2025/26 season, though it recorded a net accounting loss of approximately €18 million, largely due to the devaluation of Barça Studios. The stadium renovation timeline suggests a return to the Camp Nou in January 2028, following a temporary period at Montjuïc to allow for the installation of the new roof structure. The expanded stadium is expected to hold up to 105,000 spectators.

Additionally, Laporta expressed the club’s desire to host a formal tribute for Lionel Messi at the completed stadium, pending the player’s consent. The assembly also approved new sponsorship agreements with Ohana, a luxury developer from the UAE, and Babylon Park, an entertainment company, to bolster long-term revenue streams.
