FC Barcelona to receive millions from Nico González transfer to Newcastle
FC Barcelona is set to receive approximately 1.9 million euros following Nico González’s transfer from Manchester City to Newcastle United. Although Barcelona is not a direct party to the transaction, the club will benefit through FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, which distributes five percent of qualifying international transfer fees to clubs involved in a player's development between the ages of 12 and 23.
Newcastle’s acquisition of the Spanish midfielder is valued at roughly 50 million pounds (approximately 56 to 58 million euros). In addition to Barcelona, other clubs involved in González’s training will receive payments: FC Porto is expected to receive about 560,000 euros, and Valencia CF is slated for approximately 280,000 euros.
This latest payment adds to the significant revenue Barcelona has generated from González’s career movements. Since his departure, the club has earned roughly 25.4 million euros, including 8.5 million euros from his move to Porto and 15 million euros from his subsequent transfer to Manchester City.
