FC Barcelona to temporarily vacate Camp Nou during renovations

FC Barcelona will be required to temporarily vacate Camp Nou again due to ongoing renovation works. The completion of the stadium roof is projected for October or November 2027. Consequently, the club will play part of the 2027/28 season at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium, with a planned return to Camp Nou in January 2028.

Upon its return, the stadium is expected to initially hold approximately 95,000 spectators, with a final capacity target of roughly 105,000. The renovated venue is intended to host the 2029 Champions League final.

Economically, the club views the stadium as a primary driver for growth. Vice President Ferran Oliu anticipates annual revenues could reach 450 million euros, up from previous projections of 350 to 375 million euros. This growth is expected to stem from ticket sales, sponsorships, and club merchandise. By the 2030/31 season, the club forecasts total revenues exceeding 1.45 billion euros. However, the renovation project faces high costs, currently totaling approximately 1.8 billion euros, following the approval of an additional 510 million euros in financing due to delays and expansions.
