FC Basel president reveals Hansi Flick almost joined club

FC Basel president David Degen revealed that Hansi Flick, the current FC Barcelona coach, was nearly appointed as the FC Basel manager in 2019.

Degen disclosed this during a halftime interview at a friendly match between FC Basel and FC Barcelona. He stated that he intended to bring Flick to the club, but the move did not materialize because Flick became the manager of Bayern Munich instead. At the time of the potential move, Degen was a co-owner and member of the board at FC Basel.
