FC Basel rejects €3m Al-Fateh bid for Philip Otele

FC Basel has rejected an initial €3 million transfer bid from Saudi Pro League club Al-Fateh for Nigerian winger Philip Otele. While Otele has reportedly agreed to personal terms with the Saudi side, a gap remains between the two clubs regarding his valuation.

Basel is seeking €4 million for the 27-year-old, a figure that aligns with his current Transfermarkt valuation, though it is significantly lower than the club's previous asking price of approximately €7 million. Otele remains under contract with the Swiss club until 2028, strengthening Basel's negotiating position.

In addition to Al-Fateh's formal approach, other clubs including Birmingham City and Lecce have been linked with the winger. The transfer's progress now depends on whether Al-Fateh decides to increase their offer to meet Basel's demands.
