FC Bayern München targets contract extension for Christoph Freund

FC Bayern München leadership is working toward a contract extension for sporting director Christoph Freund. Following the recent extensions of CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and sporting board member Max Eberl through June 2029, the club's supervisory board has prioritized discussions with Freund.

Speaking after a 5-0 Champions League victory against FK Bodö/Glimt, Jan-Christian Dreesen expressed optimism regarding a swift resolution to the matter. Max Eberl also addressed the situation, attempting to downplay rumors of internal tension between himself and Freund by stating, “I hope it will happen. He has to sign,” and adding, “Everything will be fine.”

Freund, who joined the club from RB Salzburg in 2023, is currently under a four-year contract that is set to expire at the end of the current season.
