FC Bayern München to miss Oktoberfest matchday due to new calendar

For the first time in history, FC Bayern München will not play a competitive match during the Oktoberfest period. Due to an adjusted international match calendar that includes a longer break in September and October, many players will be away with their national teams.

Coach Vincent Kompany expressed support for the new calendar format, stating it is ‘perfect’ for coaches. While the players may have limited time for traditional festival visits, Kompany noted that he and the coaching staff can still participate with their families.

Despite the lack of a match during the festival, club CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen highlighted that the team will play a home game against Union Berlin on the Friday before the official Oktoberfest opening, maintaining some connection to the tradition. The club also plans to debut its specially designed Oktoberfest jersey during that match.
