FC Bayern Munich faces personnel challenges ahead of new season

As the 2026/27 Bundesliga season approaches, FC Bayern Munich faces significant competitive and structural challenges. Ahead of the Supercup against Borussia Dortmund, expert Stefan Effenberg identified the club's primary challenge as being “not on, but beside the pitch,” referring to long-term personnel planning.

Effenberg noted that Bayern's leadership must prepare for potential departures of key players such as Harry Kane, Michael Olise, or Luis Díaz. Additionally, the club must plan for the eventual departure of veteran goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, ensuring that Jonas Urbige is positioned as a reliable successor.

Manuel Neuer, entering what is expected to be his final season, expressed motivation for the upcoming campaign. He highlighted the Supercup against Dortmund as a high-stakes match, describing it as “really like a final.” Neuer also noted his anticipation for returning to Veltins-Arena to face Schalke 04 following their return to the Bundesliga, reflecting on his history with his former club.
