FC Bayern secures Konrad Laimer until 2029 as Upamecano's future sparks speculation

FC Bayern Munich announced that Austrian defender Konrad Laimer has signed a new contract running to 30 June 2029. Laimer, 29, has been with the club since the 2023/24 season, contributing to two Bundesliga titles, a DFB Cup and a German Supercup. Club officials Max Eberl and Christoph Freund praised his reliability, versatility and leadership, while Laimer expressed his happiness playing for Bayern.

Separately, the club confirmed that French centre‑back Dayot Upamecano extended his deal until 2030, but an exit clause for the summer of 2027 has been reported. The clause is valued at about €65 million, while his market price after a strong World Cup is estimated at €75 million. Speculation links the clause to possible interest from Real Madrid and other top clubs.

Both contracts underline Bayern’s strategy to retain key defensive players while keeping future transfer options open.
