FC Bayern Munich sells stake to Viessmann for estimated €250 million

FC Bayern Munich has finalized a deal with Viessmann Generations Group to sell a stake in its professional football company, FC Bayern München AG. The transaction, executed through a capital increase, results in Viessmann acquiring a stake of approximately 6.7 percent.

This move marks the final available share package for external investors under the club’s statutes, which mandate that the parent association must retain at least 70 percent ownership. The four minority shareholders—Viessmann, Adidas, Audi, and Allianz—will collectively hold the maximum permitted 30 percent. Due to the capital increase, the shares held by Adidas, Audi, and Allianz will be diluted from approximately 8.33 percent to just under 7.8 percent each.

While the exact financial terms were not officially disclosed, various reports estimate the deal to be worth around €250 million, implying a club valuation of approximately €3.7 billion to €5 billion. The influx of capital is intended to strengthen the club’s equity base and provide greater financial flexibility for future growth, digitalization, and internationalization projects.

As part of the agreement, Max Viessmann, CEO of the family holding, will join the supervisory board of FC Bayern München AG, expanding the group from nine to ten members.
