FC Bayern: Walter Mennekes to resign as 2nd Vice President
Walter Mennekes, the 2nd Vice President of FC Bayern e. V., will resign from his position on November 20 at his own request. Mennekes, who has been with the club since 1993, has held the vice presidency for ten years, overseeing amateur sports departments including basketball and table tennis.
The club's executive board has nominated Marko Pesic, a former German national basketball player and former CEO of the club's basketball department, as his successor. Pesic's official appointment is subject to confirmation by club members during the Annual General Meeting scheduled for November 21.
President Herbert Hainer praised Mennekes for his dedication and humanity. Mennekes stated that he had informed the board he would step down once a suitable successor was identified.
