FC Twente advances to Conference League play-offs after 3-3 draw with DAC 1904
FC Twente has advanced to the Conference League play-off round following a 3-3 draw against FC DAC 1904 in Slovakia. Despite the draw, Twente secured qualification with a dominant 9-3 aggregate score after their 6-0 victory in the first leg.
In the second leg, Twente initially took a 2-0 lead through goals from Max Bruns and Marko Pjaca. However, DAC 1904 staged a significant comeback, scoring three times via Abdoulaye Gueye, Klemen Nemanič, and Prince Owusu to lead 3-2 late in the match. Marko Pjaca eventually secured the draw for Twente with a goal in stoppage time.
Twente's performance in the return leg drew criticism from Dutch media, who described the team's second-half collapse as a ‘wanprestatie’ (poor performance). Twente will now face Azerbaijani side Qarabag FK in the decisive play-off round to determine if they reach the Conference League group stage.
Separately, FC DAC 1904 has denied allegations regarding the commentator Vladimír Koník, stating that the club did not communicate with him and that his claims regarding club politics are unfounded.
