FC Famalicão readies futsal squad while Benfica eyes English winger Reiss Nelson
The FC Famalicão futsal team will begin its 2026/27 preparations with medical examinations on Monday and its first training session on Tuesday, 28 July. New signings include goalkeeper Pedro Nunes, winger Filipe Costa and pivots Leandro Ribeiro and João Miguel, while captain Ruizinho, defender Rúben Santos, goalkeeper Guilherme Rego, keeper Cláudio Carvalho and forward Buzuzu have all renewed their contracts. The club also confirmed the retirement of veteran Amílcar Gomes.
Meanwhile, Portuguese giants Benfica are reported to be interested in English winger Reiss Nelson, 26, whose contract with Arsenal expires next summer. The club is said to be willing to meet a fee of around €10 million, but salary demands could hinder a deal. Benfica has also presented a long‑term renewal proposal to Norwegian forward Andreas Schjelderup, potentially worth €18 million over five years if he stays.
