FC Groningen rejects €6 million bid for Thom van Bergen

FC Groningen has rejected a six million euro transfer bid from AZ Alkmaar for attacker Thom van Bergen. General director Frank van Mosselveld stated that the club has been clear from the beginning regarding their stance, noting that Van Bergen is currently vital to the team's playing style and is not for sale.

Feyenoord captain Luciano Valente, a former teammate and close friend of Van Bergen, expressed support for the player's potential move. Speaking on the RTV Noord podcast ‘De Koffiecorner’, Valente remarked that Van Bergen deserves such a step due to his hard work and development at Groningen, though he acknowledged the difficulty of the situation and the club's need to replace such an important player.
