FC Groningen targets Swedish defender Malcolm Jeng on loan with purchase option

Malcolm Jeng, a 21‑year‑old Swedish centre‑back, is under contract with French club Stade de Reims until 2029. He spent the 2023‑24 season on loan at Feyenoord, where he made only one Eredivisie appearance before tearing his Achilles tendon, ending his spell.

Following the departures of defenders Dies Janse and Marvin Peersman, FC Groningen is searching for a defensive reinforcement. The Dutch club has expressed serious interest in bringing Jeng in on a loan deal that would include an option to buy. Stade de Reims is reportedly willing to cooperate, and Jeng himself is open to a move back to the Netherlands.

If agreed, the arrangement would give Groningen a promising young defender while offering Reims the possibility of a future permanent transfer.
