FC Hansa Rostock distances itself from hooligans following extremist incidents

FC Hansa Rostock has issued a formal statement distancing itself from hooligans following reports of extremist activity during a friendly match against FC Watford in England. A report by the research portal ‘Exif’ revealed photographs of individuals posing with a swastika flag and allegedly performing Nazi salutes.

The report also detailed physical altercations between Rostock supporters and fans of Glasgow Rangers and Olympique Lyon. The club expressed shock, noting that some individuals pictured have previously attended club events, including a children’s festival.

Hansa Rostock has notified the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Police, the Federal Police, and the State Security service. The club is also coordinating with the German Football Association (DFB) to pursue stadium bans and potential membership expulsions. The club stated it will conduct a comprehensive review of any business, organizational, or personal ties between the individuals involved and the club to ensure they align with its values.
