FC Juárez fires coach Pedro Caixinha after winless start to Apertura 2026
FC Juárez dismissed Portuguese coach Pedro Caixinha after just three matches in the Apertura 2026 season, making him the first manager sacked this campaign. The decision came after a 5‑1 loss to Pumas and earlier 1‑0 defeats to Puebla and Chivas, leaving the team at the bottom of the Liga MX table with zero points.
Caixinha, hired in December 2025 on a two‑year contract, oversaw 20 official games with a record of five wins, four draws and eleven defeats. The club named Salvador Valero, previously in charge of the under‑21 side, as interim manager while it searches for a permanent replacement.
In addition to the coaching change, FC Juárez is dealing with a FIFA administrative sanction that temporarily prevents the registration of new players until the club resolves documentation issues.
