Jusuf Gazibegović joins Widzew Łódź on loan from 1. FC Köln

Bosnia‑and‑Herzegovina international right‑back Jusuf Gazibegović (26) has been loaned by 1. FC Köln to Polish Ekstraklasa side Widzew Łódź for the 2026/27 season. The one‑year deal includes an option for Widzew to purchase the player permanently. Gazibegović, a 23‑cap defender with experience in the Austrian league, the UEFA Europa League and Champions League, was told early by Köln sporting director Thomas Kessler that he was not part of the club's plans for the upcoming campaign.

Widzew Łódź secured the loan to cover the injury to their defender Carlos Isaac Munoza. Club sporting director Artur Płatek said the signing was intended to bolster the squad, not merely provide depth, and highlighted Gazibegović’s international experience and character. Gazibegović expressed disappointment at his limited opportunities in Köln but optimism about proving himself in Poland. He remains under contract with Köln until 2028, after which he could return or be transferred permanently.
