FC Machida Zelvia defeats Urawa Reds to secure opening three-match winning streak
In the third round of the Meiji Yasuda J1 League, FC Machida Zelvia secured a 3-1 victory over Urawa Reds at the MUFG National Stadium. The win marks a perfect start for Machida, who have won their first three matches of the season.
Conversely, Urawa Reds suffered their third consecutive defeat to open the season, marking the first time the club has lost its opening three matches in 24 years. Under new manager Cho Gue-rae, the team has conceded 11 goals in three matches. Despite recording 22 shots during the match, Urawa struggled with efficiency, managing only three shots on target.
Following the match, manager Cho Gue-rae took responsibility for the defensive lapses, noting the team's inability to remain resilient in front of the goal. Urawa captain Yuta Miyamoto expressed concerns regarding the team's growing anxiety due to the lack of results, while defender Koutaro Hayashi highlighted the difficulty of facing Machida's high-quality play.
