FC Nantes sale enters advanced negotiations with French and Portuguese investors
Negotiations for the sale of FC Nantes have entered an advanced stage, potentially ending Waldemar Kita’s nearly 20-year ownership of the club. A group of French and Portuguese investors, represented by former agent Paulo Tavares, is reportedly in talks to acquire the Ligue 2 side.
While a letter of intent has reportedly been signed, significant discrepancies remain regarding the club's valuation. Sources suggest the Kita family is seeking approximately €95 million to €100 million, whereas initial investor offers were cited as low as €30 million to €40 million. The club's current status in the second division and the lack of owned infrastructure, such as a stadium or training center, are noted factors in the valuation.
Waldemar Kita has expressed a newfound openness to the sale, citing a loss of motivation following the local government's refusal to support his ‘Yellow Park’ stadium and training center project in 2019. If the deal proceeds, it must still clear financial oversight from the DNCG.
