FC Nantes faces critical Ligue 2 match against US Boulogne

FC Nantes faces a critical period in Ligue 2 as they prepare to face US Boulogne for the seventh matchday. Currently sitting in 17th place with only four points, the club has struggled since its relegation from Ligue 1, recording only one victory in six matches and conceding twelve goals.

Coach Grégory Poirier has expressed an “immediate need for results,” noting that several players must adapt to the mental and physical demands of the division. Captain Lucas Perrin has also acknowledged the urgency of the situation, citing a need to regain tactical rhythm and automatisms following a late transfer window.

Defensive concerns have also emerged, specifically regarding goalkeeper Maxime Dupé. Statistics show Dupé has a 50% save rate, the lowest in the league, contributing to Nantes having the second-worst defensive record. Despite this, Poirier has maintained his confidence in the goalkeeper.

Historically, US Boulogne has been a difficult opponent for Nantes; the Canaris have never won an away match against them in six previous attempts and have only secured one victory in nine total meetings.
