FC Nantes faces coaching change amid Ligue 2 crisis

FC Nantes is facing a severe crisis following a poor start to their Ligue 2 campaign, recording two losses in their first two matches against Red Star and Laval. The club currently sits at the bottom of the table with zero points.

As a result, manager Michel Der Zakarian is under significant pressure. Reports indicate that the club's leadership, including Waldemar Kita and Franck Kita, may be considering a coaching change. While Antoine Kombouaré has been mentioned as a potential candidate to return to the club, Grégory Poirier is reportedly emerging as a leading contender to take over the position.

Financially, the club has faced long-term challenges under Waldemar Kita's ownership, with reported net losses totaling 14.4 million euros over eighteen fiscal years. To support the club, the Kita family has made substantial capital injections, including approximately 50 million euros during the 2025-2026 period following the club's relegation to Ligue 2.
