FC Nantes near free signing of midfielder Mathieu Cafaro

FC Nantes, currently in Ligue 2 and aiming for promotion to Ligue 1, have completed signings of goalkeeper Maxime Dupé, defender Wilitty Younoussa and defender Lucas Perrin. The club is now close to adding former Paris FC midfielder Mathieu Cafaro on a free transfer.

Cafaro, 29, has a reputation as a promotion specialist, having helped Reims (2018), Saint‑Étienne (2024) and Paris FC (2025) reach Ligue 1. He has scored 13 goals in 79 Ligue 2 matches and made ten Ligue 1 appearances last season. Coach Michel Der Zakarian sees Cafaro’s experience as a key asset for Nantes’ push to return to the top flight next season.

Other transfer activity includes interest in striker Killian Corredor, but the Cafaro deal is the most advanced, with Paris FC expected to release him a year before his contract expires.
