FC Nantes sale faces scrutiny amid financial verification

The potential sale of FC Nantes is facing scrutiny as the Kita family clarifies the current status of negotiations. While a memorandum of understanding has been signed with Phoenix Sports Invest, led by Paulo Tavares, representatives for Waldemar Kita emphasize that a formal sale agreement has not yet been finalized.

The transaction is currently awaiting verification from the DNCG regarding the financial capacity of the buyers. Concerns have been raised regarding the solidity of the project, noting Tavares's previous unsuccessful attempt to acquire AS Saint-Étienne due to issues with presenting necessary funds.

Supporters, specifically the Brigade Loire group, have expressed significant skepticism toward the takeover. They have voiced concerns regarding the suitability of the new ownership, despite reports of a potential offer reaching 125 million euros. Critics have questioned the valuation of the club given its lack of ownership over its stadium and training facilities, alongside declining television rights revenues.
