FC Nantes signs 17-year-old Loan Merrifield to professional contract

FC Nantes has officially signed 17-year-old forward Loan Merrifield to his first professional contract, securing the player until June 2029. The move aims to protect one of the academy's most promising offensive talents.

Originally from Angers, Merrifield joined Nantes in 2023 after training with SCO Angers. He has progressed through the club's youth ranks, including the U17, U19, and reserve teams, and has recently participated in training sessions with the first team. The club highlighted his technical quality, speed, and ability to drive play as key attributes.

This contract follows Merrifield's recent selection for the France U18 national team. While the agreement provides long-term stability for the club, it does not guarantee immediate playing time or a permanent spot in the first-team squad under manager Grégory Poirier.
