FC Obermais defeats Virtus Bolzano 2-1 in Serie D Cup derby
FC Obermais secured a 2-1 victory against Virtus Bolzano in the Serie D Cup derby, advancing to the next round of the competition. The match took place in South Tyrol before a large crowd.
Manuel Brusco opened the scoring for Obermais in the 15th minute following an assist from Ghiotti. Simon Larcher extended the lead to 2-0 shortly after the interval in the 47th minute. Virtus Bolzano, playing without key midfielders Arnaldo Kaptina and Noah Mayr, managed to reduce the deficit in the 63rd minute through a header by Nicolo Eccheli.
The goal by Eccheli followed a specific officiating decision by referee Mauro Gijni, who strictly enforced the new five-second rule regarding goalkeeper goal kicks. This resulted in a corner kick instead of a restart, which Eccheli capitalized on. Despite the late pressure, Obermais held their lead to win the match.
