FC Porto loses to Veszprém in EHF Champions League return

FC Porto marked their return to the EHF Champions League after a two-season absence with a 36-28 defeat against One Veszprém HC in Hungary.

Despite the loss, the Portuguese side showed significant resilience during the first half. After trailing by as many as six goals, FC Porto mounted a comeback to reach the halftime interval just one goal behind at 15-14. However, Veszprém, a veteran participant in its 31st season of the competition, regained control with a strong start in the second half, led by performances from Nedim Remili and goalkeeper Emil Nielsen.

Under the leadership of coach Carlos Martingo, FC Porto enters a new competitive format in the Champions League. Their next European fixture is scheduled for September 16 at the Dragão Arena.
