FC Porto prepares for Marítimo clash amid membership growth goals

FC Porto prepares to face Marítimo at the Barreiros stadium following a lengthy international break. FC Porto coach Francesco Farioli noted that Marítimo has historically been a difficult opponent, ranking as the fourth most challenging away venue for the club. Farioli also expressed hope for improved pitch conditions at Barreiros but stated the team must adapt regardless of the surface.

Marítimo coach Mitchell van der Gaag expressed ambition to test the league leaders, acknowledging FC Porto's strength as the current champion. He emphasized the importance of learning from previous matches to compete against the top side.

Separately, FC Porto president André Villas-Boas visited the club's Chaves branch to celebrate its 25th anniversary. He highlighted the club's membership growth, noting a 20% annual increase since 2024, and set a target to reach 200,000 members, with a long-term goal of 250,000.
