FC Porto raises William Gomes release clause to €100m amid Premier League interest
FC Porto has secured the future of 20-year-old Brazilian winger William Gomes by signing him to a new contract that runs until 2031. As part of the agreement, the player's release clause has been increased from €80 million to €100 million.
Porto currently holds 80 percent of Gomes' economic rights, with the remaining 20 percent held by São Paulo. The club's decision to raise the clause follows significant interest from several Premier League sides. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the winger, who is noted for his pace and dribbling ability. Liverpool has also been linked to the player as they look to bolster their attacking options.
Club president André Villas-Boas stated that the club wanted to reinforce the player's position due to the interest he has attracted, while noting Gomes' total commitment to FC Porto.
