FC Porto takes Primeira Liga lead with 2-0 win over Arouca

FC Porto has taken sole possession of the top spot in the Portuguese Primeira Liga following a 2-0 victory over Arouca at the Estádio do Dragão. The win marks Porto’s third consecutive 2-0 victory, maintaining a perfect start to the season with nine points and zero goals conceded.

Gabri Veiga opened the scoring in the 67th minute, followed by a late goal from substitute Borja Sainz in the 86th minute. Despite Porto’s dominance, Arouca’s goalkeeper Ignacio de Arruabarrena made eight saves to keep the scoreline narrow. Porto also had two goals disallowed during the match, including a strike from Jakub Kiwior that was ruled out for offside.

Coach Francesco Farioli praised the team’s patience and defensive solidity, noting that the squad has shown maturity in breaking down a well-organized Arouca side. The victory moves Porto two points ahead of Sporting in the standings.
