FC Samartex 1996 replaces Hearts of Oak in GHALCA Top 4

Hearts of Oak has withdrawn from the 2026 GHALCA Top 4 Tournament, citing scheduling conflicts and concerns regarding pre-season preparations. The club stated that the tournament dates clashed with their existing programme and were too close to the start of the new Ghana Premier League season. Despite requests to adjust the schedule, the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) maintained the original dates to preserve the competition's credibility and sponsor relationships.

FC Samartex 1996 has been confirmed as the replacement for Hearts of Oak. GHALCA Chairman John Ansah announced that Samartex, who finished fifth in the league last season, will take the spot to maintain the tournament's established format. The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 26 to August 30, 2026.
