Schalke 04 extends contract of CEO Matthias Tillmann

The supervisory board of FC Schalke 04 has unanimously decided to prematurely extend the contract of CEO Matthias Tillmann. Tillmann, who has held the position since January 1, 2024, was originally scheduled to serve until June 2027. While the exact new duration of his contract was not officially disclosed, reports suggest an extension of three years.

Axel Hefer, chairman of the supervisory board, stated that Tillmann is the right leader for the club’s next development phase, noting his role in stabilizing the club and making difficult decisions. Under Tillmann’s leadership, the club has seen growth in membership, reaching nearly 230,000, and an increase in corporate partners to nearly 70.

Tillmann serves on a three-person board alongside Christina Rühl-Hamers and Frank Baumann. The club’s strategic focus moving forward includes long-term establishment in the Bundesliga, economic development, and structural improvements such as the digital club world and the Arena of the Future.
