DFL publishes 2026/27 Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga fixture list
The German Football League (DFL) unveiled the full match schedule for the 2026/27 Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga. The top‑flight season opens on 28 August with defending champions FC Bayern Munich hosting VfB Stuttgart, a repeat of the previous DFB‑Pokal final. In the second division, VfL Bochum welcomes Hertha BSC on 7 August.
Key derbies and early fixtures were also confirmed: Borussia Dortmund will start against Hamburger SV on 29/30 August, while the traditional Revierderby between Dortmund and promoted FC Schalke 04 is set for the first weekend of December, with the return leg in April 2027. Newcomer SV Elversberg faces Bayer Leverkusen in its debut Bundesliga match at the end of August. The DFL noted that the schedule was produced using a dedicated software system supported by mathematicians, and the “Bundesliga City Challenge” was used to tease the pairings before the full release.
